Solid waste has not been picked up for two months in the Oscar Lucero neighborhood in Palma Soriano city. CID activist Elvis Álvarez Arias called on the neighbors to put garbage bags in the middle of the street as a sign of protest against such an uncomfortable situation.
The majority backed the action although there was a minority that refused to cooperate. Among them the government delegate for the area, Isabel Alvarado, who criticizes and acts against the CID Delegation. Her attitude is contradictory because Isabel Alvarado receives remittances from the United States of America, sent by a daughter who deserted a medical mission and presently resides in that country.
Double standards are usual in Cuba, mostly by persons who are committed with a regime that has perpetuated itself for almost six decades because that is precisely what its main architects have taught them; the Castro brothers.
Unity and reason were more powerful, and hours later they sent a tractor to pick up the garbage- If we unite and claim our rights which are trampled on, we can achieve a favorable change for the good of the people.
